On June 3, 1950 Larry married Ruth Elaine Goranson. Ruth and Larry were the parents of three children: Kathryn, Vance and Timothy.

Larry was a sportsman and outdoor enthusiast. Throughout his childhood he was outside as much as possible hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, and trapping, and playing baseball and football. As an adult he added golf and fly fishing to the list. Moving to Redding made sense after fly fishing in the area for many decades.

Larry is survived by his brother, 2 children, 5 grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters, and by many friends, including his dear friend Sally Thumel. Larry was preceded in death by his wife Ruth and son Timothy. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 8th, at St. James Lutheran Church in Redding. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Brittany Rescue organization.
